I do feel for this generation that has taken on the burden of crippling higher education debt b/c they were sold on that being the panacea for everything. You're not wrong that a bit of good fortune (pun fully intended) might be necessary for this generation to realize what used to be more easily attainable. But you're also right that choices abound and daily decisions have an outsized impact in each of our futures.
