Insightful, James. In fall 2011, for 4 weeks, I commuted Sunday night from Rochester to Syracuse aboard the Amtrak and double backed on Friday evenings. This was before Uber, so I would call a taxi to get me from the Amtrak stop at Carousel Mall and take me to the hotel where I was attending a work training. I absolutely loved the commute, but it’s because everything went as planned.

Now, I’d like to commute from Rochester to Cleveland by train, but the service happens from 11:00 pm until 5:00 am—Rochester to Cleveland. That’s clearly not ideal, so I drive instead.

What I wouldn’t do for reliable, comfortable, and efficient rail service in our country?

So. Desperately. Needed.

You are correct. Going to NYC... it is almost easier to drive to Albany and park and take the train in. More selections of trains. But not everyone can do that. Hope our NYS Senator Jeremy Cooney has some positive results for transit.
