How NOT to be lonely

Google search data tells us that we want to know badly

The winter months stir up all kinds of emotions for many of us.

That's clear in the Google search data.

In December, January and February, Google claims that searches about friendship spiked, reaching their height on Valentine's Day.

In February, the phrase how to make friends as an adult spiked 110%.

Where to meet people, how to make friends, how to keep friends and make new friends reached all-time highs too, as did how not to be lonely.

We see people trying to figure that out in the data too.

Searches for Bumble BFF, the dating apps friends section, spiked.

Searches for how to make friends on social media, on Minecraft, on Discord, on Roblox, in Pokemon Go, all rose too.

So as long as we're turning to technology to solve a problem that technology has made worse, I suggest we turn to a meme for some wisdom.

Go out and touch some grass.

because the easiest way to meet people is by meeting people in person.

From my experience, true friendships begin in person and can be nurtured online.

It can happen the other way around, but it's tougher.

I know this is all easier said than done and sometimes I need to take my own advice.

What do you think?

How do you make new friends?

Are you struggling to make new friends?
