I suspect we choose not to share how we're "really" feeling because we're accustomed to others not really wanting to know. People ask the question because they're "supposed to" not because they're all that interested in how the other person's doing. I find it kind of refreshing when someone unloads on me. It provides an opportunity for a genuine discussion about life and its challenges.
