Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, claims that one of the first people implanted with a chip by his company Neuralink could control a computer mouse with their brain.
As I see it, there are two plausible options here.
Elon could be lying, maybe exaggerating, because as of this recording, there is no evidence that this has actually happened.
No video, no demonstration, nada, bupkis, just his word, whatever that's worth to you.
And remember, he's a carnival barker, a salesman, although I always assumed that something like this would happen someday.
So let's go down that road.
Is this temporary?
Is it forever?
Is it healthy?
Is it harmful?
Can they stop?
Why just a mouse?
Can they run other programs?
What about a remote control or an ice machine?
Are they a Mac or a PC?
Can they text or make phone calls or edit audio?
Above all, I think the biggest question is are we okay with knowing that we are here?
Let's assume that someone can control a computer mouse with their mind because of something that we implanted in their head.
It's the Jurassic Park problem again.
We got so wrapped up in if we could that we forgot to ask if we should because I don't think there's any turning back.
What do you think?
