t will take generations to understand the impact of COVID-19 in the events that followed on us.
Even with the masks, plastic shields, six-foot distance markers in such gone or ignored, the scars on us in our society are not.
In the words of Thomas Sowell, there were no solutions, only trade-offs.
Here's a few of them.
Today, most Americans are less likely to drink or to approach people in public.
More of us work from home.
We shop online and eat out earlier.
I really truly like some of this, but much of it feels like we're avoiding each other.
Our worlds are smaller on average.
I know mine is.
As Bloomberg opinion columnist Alison Schrager put it, “the introverts are winning” and that may not be a good thing in the long run.
“The result could be a decline in mental health and social cohesion,” she wrote. “That could be the best argument against today's introvert economy. If you don't have fun now, you'll pay for it later.”
Frankly, I can see this all around me.
More and more people are depressed as they move through their days.
I hope there's a way out but I fear there's not What do you think?
And is your world smaller than before the pandemic?
And what other changes have you seen since COVID-19?
